Wildcat Basketball

WILDCAT BASKETBALL

5th and 6th grade Co-Ed

Established in 2025, Wildcat Basketball is a competitive co-ed league that brings together 5th and 6th grade students from all five Los Alamos elementary schools for a six-week season focused on teamwork, sportsmanship, and school pride. Every year, the Aspen Tigers, Barranca Bobcats, Chamisa Cheetahs, Mountain Lions and the Pinon Panthers will battle it out for a traveling trophy. The traveling trophy will be displayed at the champion's school until the next year when the five schools compete again for who is the fiercest Wildcat!

Tryout Details

Date: Friday, January 9, 2026
Time: Individual school sessions between 4:00–9:00 PM
Location: YMCA
Registration Deadline: January 2, 2026 (no late registrations unless a team has fewer than 10 players)

• One co-ed team will be formed per elementary school
• Players must attend tryouts unless they have an excused absence
• Homeschooled students may try out for their zoned school; if roster space allows, alternative placements may be considered
• Players must bring a PowerSchool report card to verify grade level and school

Please register only if your child can commit to the full season.

Coaches

Volunteer coaches are essential to the program’s success.

• Interested parents must indicate coaching interest during registration
• Interested coach must attend tryouts
• Each team will have one head coach and one assistant coach
• If multiple candidates apply, interviews and tryout evaluations may be required
• Coaching interest is assumed to be contingent upon the child making the team
• All coaches must be cleared as volunteers

Wildcat Season: January 12th - February 27th, 2026
Fees: $115 (Fully refunded if a player does not make a team)
Practices: 6:00-7:30pm or 7:30-9:00pm 2x per week 
Games: Friday evenings (Saturdays only if necessary)

Program payment policy: Payment upon registration is required, no refunds, credits will be given on a case to case basis.
